Starting from imperfect days and emotional lows, this article reflects on how mindset shifts and “mental decluttering” can reshape how we see life. Through slow living, we learn to coexist with emotions and gently create clearer, calmer days.

Today I want to share a book:

Turning Bad Days into Good Ones

by Ho Chuan-Feng

What defines a good day or a bad day?

Perhaps a day is merely a vessel; the colour it holds depend entirely on how we choose to see it.

When life falters and falls out of rhythm, we tend to label those days as "bad."

Yet, are the days truly bad because of what happened?

Or is it the way we hold the days in our mind?

The book offers a reminder:

It is often not the rain that dampens our spirits, but our resistance to the storm.

The occurrence itself rarely weight us down; it is the interpretation we attach to it and the emotions that follow.

Consider this:

A financial loss is a fact; "My life is ruined," is a thought.

The former is a problem can be addressed.

The latter is an emotional burden that quietly traps us in a cycle of exhaustion.

When all attention solely dwell on emotions, life is becoming heavy and cloudy.

When accepting the fact and shift attention to tasks at hand, life may not mend instantly, but the path will become clearer.

This does not mean suppression of our true feelings.

Instead, we learn to sit with ourselves honestly.

To embrace the version of us that feels lost in the dark,

To give space for sadness, and to have time for things to settle.

When the tides of the emotions recedes, we return to reality and attend to what needs care.

There is a line from the book stayed with me:

"You cannot create a different future by being the same person."

Perhaps, change is not about doing more but being aware of our thoughts.

And then gently letting go of thoughts that wear us down.

In a way, it is a form of decluttering the mind.

Letting go of exaggerated emotions and harsh self-judgement, allowing our inner world to reach peace and simplicity.

Life does not have fixed path.

Unexpected detours are not mistake; they are unscripted sceneries.

No matter how arduous the walk is, every step eventually becomes part of who we are.

Every sight is a scene; everything we live through becomes part of us.

Whether it is a good day or a bad day, there is no rush for the label.

Both perfection and imperfection enrich us as a person,

And slowly shape us into unique individuals with a story worth telling.
